New Year Fun @ KO Prime Burger Bash

The burger club has officially kicked off its 2010 season with nothing better than a BURGER BASH at KO Prime FEATURING burgers created by ten local chefs. Some burgers were the chef's restaurant feature and some were completely original, such as that - created the morning of - by Ming Tsai, the Surf 'n Turf burger: the kind of shrimp patty that held up well, layered with asian slaw, tender oxtail, some other secret ingredient, and encased in a freshly made bun flavored with black sesame and sea salt. It was pretty awesome, but tough to rate as a top three given that it was, well, not a meat burger...

WHO THE HECK WON?!
In case you guys were wondering ... Bristol Lounge beat out Toro/Coppa by 2 votes!! Also ... Bristol's burger, though juicy, had a strange sauce atop reminiscent of man love.... Did anyone get any pictures??

The bash will definitely inspire checking out a couple new places, including: Green Street Grill (bacon double with a fried pickle!), The Lower Depths (all about gouda and apple with a kick - yes, it was gouda!), NOT KO Prime (cold fois gras made me feel really sad about the poor cow and duck/goose that suffered for these burgers), Stella (stuffed with fontina ... i'll take that cheesy bite any time!), and Tremont 347; all of which featured a play on the classic. Tremont 347 had the only real classic offering with raw onion, tomatoes, pickles, and lettuce. Unfortunately, the flat sesame wheat bun didn't win me (Shaina) over...

The SDLT burger still holds a special place in my heart with it's mouthwatering, greasy, melt-in-your-mouth texture and perfect bun.

What was your favorite?

Here's a bunch of links - did we THE BURGER CLUB get a shout out?!
